Jordan Addison, a wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI on Friday.
One year prior to the arrest, Addison was cited for speeding and dangerous driving after reaching speeds of 140 mph on a Minnesota freeway. The incident occurs during a particularly delicate period for Minnesota, as on July 6, rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson of the Vikings and two other individuals perished in an automobile accident.
To be clear, Jordan Addison drove a 140 mph car on a Minnesota freeway last summer and received a *citation*. He consented to pay $686 in penalties and fees and enter a guilty plea to a misdemeanor speeding offense.
Addison, 22, reportedly informed a state trooper following his ticket last summer that he was driving at a risky speed due to a medical situation involving his dog.
After that, Addison apologized, acknowledging that he had “made a mistake and used poor judgment” and that “I recognize and own that.” I’m going to take this as a lesson and not do it again. I sincerely apologize.”
Apart from Addison’s prior driving mishap and Jackson’s demise, Wes Phillips, the offensive coordinator for the Vikings, was stopped on a Minnesota expressway in December and his blood alcohol concentration was found to be 0.10.
Wade Phillips, the former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, entered a guilty plea to an amended charge of misdemeanor careless driving, paid $378 in fines, and received a three-week suspension from the team.
Last season, Addison finished second on the team in targets (108) and receptions (70), and he led the club in receiving touchdowns (ten). In terms of receiving yards (911), he came in third.
