The Bhoys manager has not hidden his intention to return Idah to Scotland permanently this summer, but Norwich is standing by their 23-year-old player valuation.

The Scottish champions haven’t yet responded to that, and it’s believed that Idah would love to rejoin his childhood team during current window.

Idah scored nine goals during his time in Glasgow, and Rodgers praised him for being the driving force behind their home success, as they defeated Old Firm rivals Rangers in both the league and Scottish Cup.

Following a 1-1 preseason friendly tie with Ayr United on Friday night, Rodgers stayed silent regarding the Idah transfer hunt.

“Adam’s a Norwich player, so I’m not in the mood to be talking about other players at other clubs,” the Celtic chief said. “But he’s a player that came in here, did exceptionally well, and we’ll see what happens.”

Johannes Hoff Thorup wants to assess Idah over the summer and Norwich aren’t thought to want to lose Idah this summer. The Irishman will link up with City for pre-season training this week.

The striker has four years left on his contract and is an academy prospect – something Norwich are seeking to utilise in their first team squad this season.

Nonetheless, Rodgers is content to exercise patience as he keeps the team reorganising in preparation for the upcoming season, which will feature Champions League play.

Rodgers told the Daily Record, “It’s all about the right players that we want. We could have had nine players in by now if we wanted.”

“There’s no point in us doing anything other than that and sometimes that takes a little bit of patience. In the world nowadays, where everything’s immediate, everyone thinks you can do it straight away, but it’s not always the case. There’s always a collaboration between ourselves and another club to get the players that we want, but I’m very hopeful that come the end of the window, we’ll have a really strong squad and be ready and prepared for an exciting season.
