Heartbreaking News For UFL: Birmingham Stallions Key Has Sustain A Carrier Ending Injury

Birmingham Stallions Sign K Ramiz Ahmed, Blewitt Injured

The Birmingham Stallions have started the season with a perfect 3-0 record, but that hasn’t stopped them from being active in free agency. The Stallions signed former Pittsburgh Maulers K Ramiz Ahmed. This signing doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as Kicker Chris Blewitt appeared on Tuesday’s injury report with a right quad injury.

Ramiz’s professional experience comes with the 2022 USFL Maulers, and the Green Bay Packers the same year.

During his Maulers career, Ramiz was spotty, going 14/22 on FG attempts. Of those attempts, only 7/14 were converted from over 40 yards out. His extra point conversions were also inconsistent, only 7/10 being converted.

However, Ramiz Ahmed holds a USFL record for the 2022 season. His field goal against the New Jersey Generals from 61 yards out was the longest of the season.

After his USFL season, Ramiz signed with the Green Bay Packers practice squad as a backup to Mason Crosby. Ramiz saw the active roster twice in 2022, but only played in one game, where he handled kickoff duties. He kicked off six times with three touchbacks.

I find it quite interesting that the Stallions signed Ramiz after he has been out of professional football since the 2022 season, with many free agent kickers still available that played last year, or participated in the 2024 UFL camps. He does have a strong leg, which probably played into his signing given the UFL kickoff rules.

We’re told that Chris Blewitt will likely be out for only a week, so he should be back by week five, as long as everything goes according to plan. Thankfully for Stallions fans, their trusty kicker should be back in action sooner than later.
