San Antonio Brahmas Sign Kade Warner, Lose Cody Latimer

The San Antonio Brahmas have lost a key piece this week, once again. TE Cody Latimer is done for the season, being placed on the injured reserve list. In his place, the team has re-signed Kade Warner, who was present in Training Camp.

Cody Latimer went down with a knee injury after making a spectacular grab against Birmingham. It’s unfortunate, and Offensive Coordinator A.J. Smith believed that the hit was “dirty”. Remember, the Brahmas lost Chase Garbers for several weeks due to a late hit during their week three matchup against St. Louis – so they are no strangers to these sorts of injuries.

Latimer was tremendous in the UFL, which is no surprise. He earned All-XFL honors with the Orlando Guardians, and that translated smoothly into his time with San Antonio. Cody was used primarily as a wide receiver, despite the tight end title.

San Antonio Brahmas Sign Kade Warner, Lose Cody Latimer

Cody Latimer finishes his UFL season with 391 receiving yards and a touchdown, on 36 receptions. One of his most important catches of the year came in week two, as San Antonio completed an incredible comeback against Memphis. He had an impressive 76.1 Offensive Grade this year, via PFF.

The sad news is that Cody Latimer had said that this was his last year of football. His team is ready to compete for a Championship title, and unfortunately, Latimer won’t be able to do it with them. If this truly is the end for his career, he’s had a legendary one.

Kade Warner

Kade Warner returns to San Antonio, which isn’t surprising. He was with the team during Training Camp, having been a part of the initial cuts down to 58.

Warner was originally a Letter Of Intent signing for the Houston Roughnecks, but made his way to the Brahmas once Wade Phillips and his staff did. Kade is the son of NFL Hall Of Famer Kurt Warner.

Warner saw the majority of his quality minutes in college at Kansas State, where he posted over 600 receiving yards and five touchdowns across his final two seasons. This led to an NFL stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last fall. Now, he’ll look to kickstart his pro career in the UFL.

With a 7-2 record and firm control on the XFL Conference, the San Antonio Brahmas are primed for a Championship run…if they can stay healthy.
