RAZORBACKS ROLLING: Arkansas Dominates Oakland, 92-62, Behind Boogie Fland’s Career-High 24 Points
Fayetteville, AR – The Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team closed out their non-conference schedule in style, routing the Oakland Golden Grizzlies 92-62 on Monday, December 30. The win marked the Razorbacks’ final tune-up before diving into the heart of their SEC schedule.
True freshman sensation Boogie Fland stole the show, pouring in a career-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Fland’s impressive outing showcased his skills as a high-volume scorer and excellent facilitator, leaving fans and coaches alike buzzing about his potential.
“Boogie’s a special player,” said Arkansas head coach John Calipari. “He’s got a knack for scoring, and he’s only going to get better as the season goes on. I’m excited to see what he does in conference play.”
The Razorbacks’ victory was a true team effort, with four players scoring in double figures. Adou Thiero, a junior forward, chipped in 17 points and nine rebounds, while senior guard Davonte Davis added 15 points and five assists.
Arkansas’ defense was also impressive, holding Oakland to just 34.5% shooting from the field and forcing 16 turnovers. The Razorbacks’ high-pressure defense has been a staple of their success this season, and it will be crucial as they navigate the treacherous waters of the SEC.
The Razorbacks’ recruiting class has also been making headlines, with three projected NBA draft picks, including lottery prospect Boogie Fland. The influx of young talent has brought a new level of excitement to the program, and fans are eagerly anticipating the rest of the season.
“we’re building something special here,” said Calipari. “We’ve got a talented young core, and we’re only going to get better as the season goes on. I’m excited to see what the future holds for this team.”
With the non-conference schedule behind them, the Razorbacks will now turn their attention to the SEC. They’ll face off against Ole Miss on the road on January 4, followed by a home matchup against Vanderbilt on January 8.
Arkansas fans are encouraged to come out and support their team as they embark on the second half of their season. With their high-powered offense and stifling defense, the Razorbacks are poised to make some noise in the SEC. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of it!
