Joel Embiid returned to Philadelphia 76ers practise in a limited capacity on Monday, January 27 as the 30-year-old center is confirmed to miss the upcoming two fixtures with the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings.
The star of the team has found himself spending the last three weeks out of commission after suffering both a foot and knee injury, only going on to register 13 appearances as the side finds themselves 11th in the Eastern Conference.
Holding a .386 record, the Pennsylvanian side are out of the play-in spots and trail the Chicago Bulls in the final spot by one win. They are currently 18.5 games behind the conference-leading Cleveland Cavaliers.
Thus they need their Olympic champion back soon, and good news is on the horizon as he returns to training to do some short runs and jumps alongside colleagues, as per Kyle Neubeck. A promising sign is that he did a handstand, just weeks after undergoing surgery for his knee.
That came after he spent six games on the sideline for spraining his foot. Other absences came through a suspension, swelling and knee management, a year after his meniscus injury in 2023/24.
Some fans have questioned his injury record, whilst others joked the handstand will put The Process on the backburner for another four to six weeks of the NBA season, and further fans even slammed the handstand as insensitive given the contest of the season.
