Just In: Travis Kelce to follow in Tom Brady’s footsteps…

Trais Kelce and Tom Brady

Although he hasn’t officially called it quits on his playing career, Travis Kelce is already being tipped as the next Tom Brady whenever he does move into his post-playing career.

The Kansas City Chiefs star is taking time to consider the next step in his career after he and his teammates came up short in Super Bowl LIX, falling 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I know everybody wants to know whether I’m playing next year and right now, I’m just kicking everything down the road. I’m kicking every can I can down the road. I’m not making any crazy decisions,” Kelce said on the New Heights podcast.

“I’ve been fortunate over the past five, six years, I’ve played more football than anybody. It’s because of the people that are in that building. The fact that we keep going to these AFC championships and these Super Bowls, that means I’m playing an extra three games more than everybody else in the entire league.

“That’s a lot of wear and tear on your body and it’s a lot of time spent in the building, focusing on your craft, focusing on the task at hand and every challenge that you set up for yourself.”

What’s next for Kelce?
While Kelce is taking his time in deciding his next step, it appears there are already NFL broadcasters lining up to have him join their team.

Much like Tom Brady, who was signed by Fox to a 10-year, $375 million deal once he retired in 2023, Kelce would immediately attract interest, though likely not the same financial figures.

Sports Illustrated has suggested that Kelce could land a deal worth $10 million a year if he pursues a career as an NFL analyst. That figure would be more than what brother Jason gets with ESPN.

Jason reportedly signed a three-year, $24 million contract to work with ESPN after hanging up his cleats following a 13-year career. Time will tell if networks like Fox, Amazon, ESPN and NFL Network look to land both brothers and have them continue the successful pairing that has made their podcast a hit.

In the meantime, Travis has kept himself busy with off-the-field ventures which includes a recurring role in the FX horror series Grotesquerie. He will also make a cameo in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2.

He is also the host Amazon Prime’s Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?.
