Must Read: Angel Reese Gets Brutally Honest Advice From WNBA Legend…

Angel Reese Receives Brutally Honest Basketball Advice From Lisa Leslie | OutKick

Angel Reese received some brutally honest advice from a legendary WNBA star this weekend.

Reese, coming off a standout first season with the Chicago Sky, averaged 13 points and 13 rebounds per game as a rookie. If there’s one flaw in her game, it’s her lack of consistency around the basket. If you’ve followed the WNBA at all, you’ve probably seen the montages of Reese missing layup after layup (but grabbing rebound after rebound)

If the former LSU Tigers star is going to take the next step in her career, she’s going to have to get better around the basket. One legendary WNBA star believes that it’s fixable.

Reese received some brutally honest advice from WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, regarding her lack of success in the short shots around the basket.

Lisa Leslie, who has been working with Angel Reese on her game, says that she has to fix her layups.

“The biggest advice I have for you is going to be how you shoot your lay-ups. We’re going to fix that – it’s fixable for you. You’re going to get better, and I can help you get better,” Leslie said on the “Unapologetically Angel” podcast.

“I can help you get better. I’m positive.”

Reese was still a very good player in 2024, averaging 13.6 points and a league-high 13.1 rebounds per game. But she struggled around the rim. Reese made just 42 percent of her layup attempts. That’s not sustainable as a professional basketball player.

Leslie is confident that Reese, 22, has what it takes to improve her game.

“Just the idea that you want to get better, like I love that,” Leslie said. “For me to hear from you, and see that you’re like, ‘Yes, I want you to work with me, I want you to help me, I want to get better’ — that’s what it’s about. The fact that you already have that attitude? You’re going to get better, and I can help you get better. I’m positive.”

Leslie is one of the best players in WNBA history. She was a three-time MVP and remains close to the game, now working with some of the league’s top young talent.

Reese is hoping to take her advice and improve in a major way heading into the 2025 season.
