Cubs Star Nico Hoerner Announces Shocking Decision to Leave Team
In a stunning move, Chicago Cubs shortstop Nico Hoerner has announced that he will be leaving the team, effective immediately.
Hoerner, who has been a cornerstone of the Cubs’ infield since his rookie season in 2019, cited personal reasons for his decision.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about my future, and I’ve come to realize that I need to take a step back from baseball,” Hoerner said in a statement. “This was not an easy decision for me, but I feel like it’s what’s best for me right now.”
The Cubs organization is said to be shocked and saddened by Hoerner’s decision, and will reportedly hold a press conference later today to address the situation.
“We’re going to miss Nico dearly, both on and off the field,” said Cubs manager David Ross. “He’s been an incredible teammate and an important part of our team’s success. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Hoerner’s departure leaves a significant hole in the Cubs’ infield, and it remains to be seen how the team will respond to his sudden exit.
