While council officials acknowledged the pub’s marquee attracts customers and boosted its trade, a planning officer slammed the sheer size of the structure as harmful to the Eastwood conservation area and backed neighbours who complained of noise and other disruption. More than a dozen neighbours had railed against letting the marquee become permanent, a council document revealed, with these locals arguing it was too big, created too much noise, resulted in more traffic, and encouraged anti-social behavior.
