The Green Bay Packers had a youth movement among the roster, which included the departure of several important veterans. From contributors like Rasul Douglas and Aaron Jones to potential Hall of Famers like Aaron Rodgers and Mason Crosby. Young players across the depth chart have opportunities as a result of the departure of veterans.

One of those spots is off-ball linebacker, where the Packers have pushed their 2022 first-round pick to the top of the MLB depth chart following the departure of De’Vondre Campbell. Two players will have the opportunity to earn the number two spot throughout training camp.

Battle in Green Bay Packers Training Camp: Isaiah McDuffie vs. Edgerrin CooperWithin the excellent 2024 draft class, Edgerrin Cooper was widely regarded as the most prepared MLB prospect. Cooper possesses amazing power and athleticism, making him the ideal modern LB. With a 9.34 RAS score, Texas A&M’s 6’2 230 linebacker has distinguished himself from every other player in his class.

Despite Cooper’s undeniable potential and ability, he has competition to be the second linebacker in a nickel defense.

Isaiah McDuffie played in over 50% of the defensive snaps last season as well as led the Green Bay Packers in tackles (86 combined). McDuffie also has a unique history with the new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, formerly playing under him as head coach of Boston College.
