Quarterback for the Texas Longhorns Arch Manning surprised everyone on Tuesday by revealing that he will be in the next College Football 25 video game, which is scheduled for release the following week.
Being one of the more well-known college football players, there has been a lot of excitement about his participation because he hasn’t opted in with EA Sports to allow them to use his name, likeness, or image. Manning has revealed his total rating, which may surprise some fans given the game is now only a few days away from its July 19 release date.
According to reports released by CBS Sports on Thursday, Manning’s overall rating in the game will be an 87 (out of a possible 99). It’s safe to say that this rating is rather high given that the young quarterback has only played in two professional games. Manning currently holds the second-highest rating among Texas players in the video game.
Even the majority of Longhorns supporters would likely concur that this ranking is a little too high, even though it is by no means an insult to Manning.
Does Manning have “87 overall” potential? Absolutely. He was a five-star recruit for a reason. However, he just doesn’t have the game reps to justify a rating that high.
This past season, Manning only played in two contests and didn’t appear in his first career college game until the regular-season finale against Texas Tech. He finished that 57-7 win going 2 of 5 passing for 30 yards while adding a 12-yard run. He then took the final snaps in Texas’ 49-21 win over Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship.
In the spring game this past April, he finished 19 of 25 passing for 355 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
