Atalanta midfielder Ederson is a player of long-term interest to Manchester City as they consider signing a new defensive midfielder.
However, a deal is thought to be difficult to do in this window so a move to City is unlikely at this stage.
The club has already invested £135 million this month on players such as Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis, and Abdukodir Khusanov. Despite this spending, City is still seeking midfield reinforcements due to the aging profiles of key players like Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and İlkay Gündoğan. Éderson, known for his tireless work rate and defensive capabilities, is among the potential targets. Nonetheless, mid-season transfers for pivotal players are challenging, making a summer move more feasible.
That is mainly down to Atalanta competing in the Serie A title race and currently sitting in the Champions League top-eight.
The 25-year-old is considered one of the best-emerging No.6-type midfielders in Europe.
He has two caps for Brazil, breaking into the senior national team for the first time last year.
Pep Guardiola’s side have signed three players – Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Omar Marmoush – this month at a cost of £122.1m.
