10 Cringiest Wrestling Ring Names Turning Heads in 2025…

Edgy Wrestling Ring Names That Sound Cringe In 2025

Creating a wrestling name isn’t an easy decision, be that in WWE or any other company. It typically sticks with people forever, and while some last forever, others age poorly. This is particularly the case when people choose or are given names to be edgy and entertain fans at a specific time rather than in the long term, which is why certain names don’t end up working out in modern times.

Those names might be entertaining at that moment, but in 2025, they haven’t necessarily aged brilliantly. These names have ended up sounding cringe when it comes to modern times as they no longer seem acceptable or sound entertaining in the manner that they once did.

Grandmaster Sexay

Grandmaster Sexay WWE

This Name Worked For The Attitude Era

This was his name during the Too Cool era
WWE failed to tap into the fact he was Jerry Lawler’s son
In the Attitude Era, WWE would consistently try to create names and methods to be as edgy as possible, with Grand Master Sexay being a perfect example. This type of name was something that fans reacted to at the time as it felt like something shocking and provocative.

However, in 2025 Grand Master Sexay is a name that doesn’t sound good at all. It’s not something that WWE would ever use today, and the fact he was Jerry Lawler’s son means this one was a huge missed opportunity.

Justin Credible

Justin Credible Cropped

This Play On Words Didn’t Work

  • He used various names throughout the years
  • His best years came in ECW

Justin Credible was a talented wrestler and someone who was capable of holding his own inside the ring, but the name wasn’t good The idea was for this to be a play on words of ‘just incredible,’ which was supposed to be an edgy nod to his in-ring prowess

It might’ve been seen as edgy at the time and an interesting way to entertain people, but the reality is that in 2025 the name is cringey and doesn’t come accross as entertaining.

Meat

Shawn Stasiak Meat

This Was A Name Shawn Stasiak Took On For A Period

  • His character was cotrolled by female stars
  • It was a unique gimmick that didn’t work

Shawn Stasiak was a solid wrestling name that, while not overly exciting, proved to be entertaining enough to work. However, WWE decided to switch things up for him as he ended up being named Meat, which was an awful change and a terrible name.

It was done to change up his character massively, but it’s not something that benefited him. It was supposed to be edgy enough to get people talking, but anyone walking out with that name in 2025 it would be laughed out of an arena.

Various wrestlers worked under this mask
Suicide was a name given to a masked wrestler in TNA Wrestling, who ended up being portrayed by various people over the years. He was built as an exciting performer who could pull off incredible moves inside the ring, with the character having come directly from a video game.

Everything about the character was an attempt to be edgy. From the masked mystery to the fact the gimmick was created in a video game, but the name itself i one that wouldn’t fly in 2025.

#6

Balls Mahoney

Bullet Club in WWE, Balls Mahoney's Death and Top WWE News from Week of April 16 | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report

His Name Suited The Gimmick

The name suited things in ECW
It’s unlikely this would be allowed in today’s PG product

Balls Mahoney was an edgy name that was created to purposefully get people talking, and that’s exactly what it did. The way Mahoney presented himself was to stick it to the man, and that meant that his name worked well with the overall presentation, especially in ECW.

Paul Heyman’s company was all about breaking the rules and an edgy name like this worked for the time. However, nowadays this is something that would feel forced and likely wouldn’t work in a PG environment.

#5

Hugh G. Rection

Hugh Morris

This Was A Dreadful Play On Words

  • He was also known as Hugh Morrus
  • DeMott was typically an aggressive worker who liked to be serious
Bill DeMott was a serious in-ring talent who liked to bring an aggressive style to the ring which led to him putting together some great matches when he was booked in that manner. However, for a lot of his career he was pushed in a more comedic manner with a ridiculous name such as Hugh G. Rection.
The name is an obvious play on words in a bid to create some naughty and edgy, but it’s not what anyone wants to see on television. It’s something that audiences would instantly roll their eyes at today due to how over-the-top it is.

#4

Super Hero In Training (Rosey)

Rosey as a superhero in WWE

The Initials Tell The Whole Story

  • This was a superhero-based gimmick
  • WWE tried to give the character an edge

Rosey was a talented wrestler and someone who blended an aggressive style with speed and agility which made him a lot of fun to watch. He was pushed alongside The Hurricane to create another superhero in WWE, but he wasn’t the complete package and was instead pushed as a trainee.

It allowed WWE to tell different types of stories with him, but it also allowed for an edgy name to be created. The company could easily have just called him Rosey, but adding the extras felt forced and wouldn’t happen now for various reasons.

#3

The Dicks

The-Dicks-Entrance-WWE-Cropped-2

They Were A Chippendale Inspired Tag Team

  • They were released five months after debuting
  • The gimmick didn’t work in WWE

The Dicks were an average tag team that didn’t get pushed much during their time in WWE, but there’s no doubt that the two men had fantastic physiques. They looked the part and that led to them being placed on WWE television and gaining a Chippendale-style gimmick.

The name itself was done to be edgy and get people talking, but it didn’t build any extra interest in them as a team. Putting this name out in wrestling today wouldn’t change that because it’s simply not a good name.

#2

Big Dick Johnson

WWE Superstar Big Dick Johnson With Shawn Michaels

This Remains One Of WWE’s Worst Gimmicks

  • The character would never work in modern wrestling
  • The name was rude on purpose

Big Dick Johnson was a bizarre gimmick that WWE created which saw a wrestler run around in minimal clothing and a bottle of baby oil which he would use to then then dance around the ring. It was a terrible gimmick and something that wouldn’t work today, especially with the name.

The name itself was edgy to try and catch the attention of people and it managed to do that to a point. However, having that name today wouldn’t work as audiences are guaranteed to reject it.

#1

Beaver Cleavage

Beaver Cleavage WWE

This Idea Was Simply Stupid

  • He was originally Mosh
  • He was supposed to be a mock sitccom character

Out of all of the names in wrestling history, Beaver Cleavage was by far the worst. In 2025, the idea of anyone being named this is impossible to imagine as it is incredbly corny and something that was obviously done to just provoke a reaction from people.

In the Attitude Era this name managed to just about work because people wanted to see gimmicks that were rude as it was part of the show at that time. But in 2025, this name isn’t something that anyone would take seriously.
