Not the Chiefs, not the Cowboys: this was NFL team Patrick Mahomes hated growing up - AS USA

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs made their first public appearance in New Orleans on Media Day from the Caesar’s Super Dome, and the three-time Super Bowl MVP raised some eye brows with one of his statements.

When asked who he rooted for growing up, and he told reporters he was a Cowboys fan growing up. Being a kid from Tyler, Texas that’s understandable. At the same time, being a kid who grew up watching the New England Patriots dynasty he grew to strongly dislike the Pats.

“I was a Cowboys fan growing up, and I used to hate the Patriots. More than anything, I appreciate the greatness of the Patriots now when I see how hard it was to do what they did” said the three time Super Bowl champ.

The Patriots are considered to be the best dynasty in the history of the NFL having won six Lombardi Trophies over two decades. Mahomes has a chance to do something that neither Tom Brady, nor the Patriots did: win the three-peat. With that success, he has certainly felt some of the hate from younger kids watching him much like he did with Brady and New England.
