Breaking News: Miami Hurricanes Star Named 2025 All-American!

While the Miami Hurricanes lost their star quarterback, Cam Ward — a Heisman finalist and potential No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft — they made a significant move to fill the void by acquiring former Georgia Bulldogs Carson Beck through the transfer portal.

But the returning talent that is tasked with protecting Beck is perhaps just as important as the addition itself.

Offensive tackle, Francis Mauigoa is one of the premier lineman in all of college football, and one of the returners that is responsible for taking care of the programs’ most prized possession.

All signs point to him being able to deliver, even with the expectations rising. Mauigoa was recently the only Hurricane named to ESPN’s 2025 Way-Too-Early college football All-America Team.

The article, by Chris Low, details Mauigoa’s dominance so far in his college career.

“When Mauigoa came to Miami, he was billed as the premier offensive line prospect in the country,” said Low. “Now entering his junior season, Mauigoa is primed for an All-America season after showing flashes of his immense talent since he started all 13 games as a freshman for the Hurricanes. The 6-6, 320-pound Mauigoa was a second-team All-ACC selection last season and has a chance to be one of the top tackles taken in the 2026 NFL draft.”

Scouts have already taken notice, projecting Mauigoa as not just one of the top tackles in 2026, but as one of the top players in the draft. His ability to anchor the offensive line and open up rushing lanes will be pivotal for Miami’s success next season.

The Hurricanes have undergone steady improvement during Mario Cristobal’s tenure, posting a 10-3 record this past season. With Mauigoa protecting the pocket, Miami is well-positioned to continue its upward momentum, helping Beck find success as well in the process.
