
The Joe Burrow Foundation awarded Prairieville High School with a $1,000 grant to host a World Teen Mental Health Awareness Day at the Ascension Parish school.
Senior class president Caroline Palmer and her English teacher applied for the grant, according to a school social media post.
The event will be March 14 in conjunction with the student council, the Interact Club and the Be the Change Club.
Green ribbons and information about mental health will be distributed as host relaxation stations will be set up in the school library
According to the Joe Burrow Foundation website, greater Baton Rouge and southeast Ohio students in grades 7-12 are encouraged to develop and participate in activities marking the event.
The wellness day is observed every year in an effort to raise awareness for the mental health issues teenagers face, promote mental wellness, and determine solutions, per the site.
Burrow, the former LSU quarterback who led the Tigers to a national championship in 2020 and won the Heisman Trophy, was selected first overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL draft.
A two-time Pro Bowl selection (2022, 2024) and two-time NFL Comeback Player of the Year (2021, 2024), he led the league in passing yards and passing touchdowns last season.
Burrow grew up in Ohio and started his college football career at Ohio State before transferring to LSU.
