GOOD NEWS: MotoGP Rider Jorge Martin out of Hospital after Qatar Crash…see details
MotoGP World Champion Jorge Martin has been discharged from Hamad General Hospital in Doha after sustaining a collapsed lung and multiple rib fractures during a high-speed crash at the Qatar Grand Prix last weekend. The Aprilia rider will remain in Qatar for a few more days as doctors continue to monitor his recovery.
The crash occurred under the lights at the Lusail International Circuit when Martin lost control at turn 11 and was struck in the back by the oncoming bike of VR46 Racing’s Fabio Di Giannantonio. The impact resulted in immediate medical attention and hospitalization, sparking concern among fans and teams across the paddock.
Martin had only just returned to racing in Qatar after missing the opening three rounds of the season due to injuries suffered in a preseason testing crash, which fractured his foot and hand. Despite ongoing rehabilitation, the Spanish rider showed impressive determination in making his comeback, only to face another significant setback.
“Jorge has been discharged from Hamad General Hospital and will remain in Qatar for a few more days until his medical condition stabilizes,” Aprilia Racing said in a statement. “As soon as his condition allows, an assisted flight will be organized to return to Europe.” Martin’s participation in the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix remains uncertain as his recovery continues to be closely evaluated.
