Breaking: Fans Forced to Defend Caitlin Clark Over Negative Narrative…see how
With training camp about to start, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is making sure she’s making the most of her free time before she returns to work.
She was on hand once again to watch the Indiana Pacers take on the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 2 of their first-round matchup at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday. The Pacers beat the Bucks, 123-115, to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
The 23-year-old Clark could gather inspiration from the Pacers as she enters her second season in the WNBA.
The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year will be under heavy scrutiny anew, which comes with the territory of being a superstar. One criticism that has been thrown at her is that she’s a selfish player.
One fan took to X to defend Clark from the false narrative.
“Caitlin Clark led the NCAA in assists THRICE and set the records for most assists in a game, an All-Star Game (rookie), and in a season in W history,” said the post.
“Yet, people unabashedly say she’s not a facilitator, she’s a ball hog, just jacks up shots, threes, etc.”
Many agreed with the post, pointing out that haters have resurfaced.
“Some people just live to antagonize,” said a fan.
“Seeing CC handles the ball on 99.9% of the possessions, her average of 14.4 shots per game doesn’t appear to be out of line unless one may be looking at being negative,” explained another fan.
“They never watched her play or bothered checking stats. Just a social media scroll now and again,” wrote an X user.
“If being a floor general means that you’re a ball hog…idk what to say to them Hatlins,” commented a fan.
“She’s gonna average 15 assists per game this year. Fever are going to launch some shots this year,” said another fan.
Clark, who has always taken pride in making her teammates better, led the WNBA in assists last season with 8.4 per game. She also set the rookie record for most assists in a single campaign with 232.
The Fever will open their season against the Chicago Sky on May 17.
