Chicago Sky star forward Angel Reese is no stranger to controversy. So when she had Kayla Nicole, the noted ex-girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, as her most recent guest on her “Unapologetically Angel” podcast this week, she knew there would likely be some backlash.

However, that didn’t stop Reese and Nicole from delving into the latter’s personal relationship with Kelce from years ago and the insinuation that Kelce is forbidden from speaking to or having any kind of contact with Nicole because of Swift had social media buzzing, with plenty of strongly-worded tweets and messages sent Reese’s way. The 22-year-old WNBA star doesn’t seem to mind though, as evidenced by the tree-word tweet she posted on Friday afternoon that read “Hating pays too.”

While Reese didn’t outright address Swift and Kelce by name, it’s presumed that’s who she’s referring to.

In the 24 hours that the podcast has been live, it’s garnered 47,000 views on YouTube and nearly 1,000 comments, most of which defend Reese and Nicole from the criticism they received from Swifties. Most of the responses to Reese’s tweet are have been from X users calling her out for accepting a villainous role. “So you just openly admitted you’re a proud narcissist? Got it,” @SerhanOnX remarked.

“Ahh yes making content to pander towards engagement baiting and then playing the victim card wondering why people respond to you the way they do. Pretty on brand,” @treytrey1011 stated. “You took this opportunity to become one of the most unlikeable athletes playing today lmao have fun, just don’t cry later bc you like being the villain remember?” @Domthgr8 commented. “Weren’t you just victim crying about this like a week ago. Rules for thee, not for me, eh?” @JaxPHL questioned.

“So you set her up to look like a bunny boiler that can’t move on from her ex of three years ago? What a class act. Your karmas gonna be something else. I’ll pray for you,” @Gigi414107 wrote. Potentially igniting a feud with Swift is just the latest controversy that’s come from Reese’s podcast. She came under fire over the last several weeks for having on anti-Caitlin Clark guests like Sheryl Swoopes, which fans interpreted as Reese using Clark’s name to build up her podcast’s subscriber base.
