Nuno Espirito Santo has joined Nottingham Forest, and the team is expected to go for Jota. Earlier this week, Steve Cooper was replaced as head coach by the Portuguese man.

After leaving Celtic, Jota signed a £25 million contract with Al-Ittihad in July 2023, where he was Espirito Santo’s assistant. He scored twice in his 11 outings across all competitions in Saudi Arabia.

If Forest does want Jota, it won’t be easy to sign him. Al-Ittihad has tipped the player back to Celtic, and considering how outstanding he was for the Hoops, it’s highly probable that they’ll want to learn more.

The National claims that Jota might be open to a borrowing arrangement in January. In light of this, when the opportunity opens, Espirito Santo might try to bring Jota to Forest.

Journalist thinks Forest might sign Jota

These statements were made by Mark Guidi earlier this week during an episode of The Go Radio Football Show. He believes signing Jota could be enticed by Espirito Santo heading to Forest.

“If we’re just connecting the dots, does that mean that Jota can go there on loan in January given that Nuno Espirito Santo signed him for the Saudi Arabian club?” he questioned.

To put it mildly, Jota had an extremely excellent record at Celtic. In 83 games, he recorded 26 assists, 28 goals, and two Scottish Premiership championships.

Jota could be ideal at the City Ground

The Forest team’s wide receiver position may use some reinforcement. Other than Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi, not many choices are available at the club.

Jota is a left-wing player by trade, and if Forest could make a move in January, it would make sense to sign him.

The player has a devoted fan in Ange Postecoglou. Following a victory for the Hoops, the head coach of Celtic, where he was playing in 2021, publicly praised him as “outstanding.”

In January, Forest will probably take longer to offload players. Given the size of the team, Espirito Santo would be better advised to sign Jota on a temporary basis in order to increase his alternatives on the wing.
