Alabama football quarterback Tyler Buchner revealed he is transferring back to Notre Dame to play lacrosse, but will stay for the playoff.

While Nick Saban and the Alabama football team are getting ready to play Michigan in the College Football Playoff, Tyler Buchner, the backup quarterback, made it known that he will be returning to Notre Dame to play lacrosse after the Crimson Tide season ends.

On Wednesday, Tyler Buchner declared on social media that he will return to Notre Dame in May to complete his degree. during offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, he transferred to Alabama during spring camp this year.

According to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN, Buchner stated on X, “I’ll be continuing my initial commitment to Alabama Football through the playoff and finishing what I started.” “I sincerely appreciate everyone’s unwavering support,”

with an eventual three-way competition with Ty Simpson and Jalen Milroe for the starting quarterback position, Buchner transferred to Alabama football with the hopes of winning it. Over time, Jalen Milroe emerged as Nick Saban’s team’s starting quarterback, surpassing both Ty Simpson and Buchner. His improvement has been a major factor in the Crimson Tide’s postseason success.

Head coach Marcus Freeman had nothing but positive things to say about former Fighting Irish quarterback Buchner when he logged onto the transfer portal at Notre Dame in the spring.

Now, Buchner will contribute to the lacrosse program while completing his degree at a location he is comfortable with. What he plans to do once he receives his degree in May and how he performs with the Notre Dame lacrosse team will be interesting to watch.
