Timo Meier scored twice, Tyler Toffoli scored in the third period, and the New Jersey Devils defeated the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Saturday night in Newark, N.J.

The Devils had 10 shots on goal in the first period, while the Red Wings had six, but the game concluded with the score tied at one.

At 4:22, Kane scored on a one-timer off Alex DeBrincat’s feed from the left circle. Moritz Seider contributed the second assist.

Meier knotted it at 11:43 of the third period, burying a rebound.

In the first period, New Jersey killed the sole penalty. The Devils had three power-play chances in the second period but failed to capitalize, as Hutchinson stopped seven shots in that stretch.
