The Denver Broncos’ last-ranked running defense will hopefully benefit from this.

egendary Bill Belichick, head coach of the New England Patriots, is expected to exploit multiple Denver Broncos weaknesses that the Detroit Lions highlighted last week. If Belichick delivers yet another coaching masterclass, it might spell the end of the Broncos’ playoff ambitions.

As we enter Week 16, weariness is a major concern for Broncos head coach Sean Payton, as it is for every team still in contention. Payton used the additional day of preparation this week to rest his team’s bones and brains in the hopes of a quick turnaround in energy levels come Sunday night.

“We had three games in 13 days and in three different time zones when you look at that stretch,” Payton said of Denver’s logistical issues with the previous three consecutive road games. “I simply felt it was necessary.” This has been beneficial. We’re mostly in good health. This week’s energy level was satisfactory in my opinion. At home, we have a night game.”

Finding some more juice to push the Broncos over the finish line of qualifying for a postseason place will require mental toughness, and getting some extra rest when feasible will only help. Hopefully, it will revitalize Denver’s last-ranked rushing defense.
