On Monday, a 49-year-old woman known only as Mrs Ajayi was allegedly attacked and macheted by unidentified thieves at Adisa Bridge on the Ibadan/Oyo New Expressway, Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

While narrating her ordeal on the hospital bed at Wabilahi Taofeek Maternity Clinic in Isale Awero, Moniya, Ajayi said she was attacked by two young men on a motorcycle about 6:30 p.m. after she disembarked from a commercial vehicle she boarded in the area at Ebedi, which had developed a fault.

“One was on the bike, and the second was very close to me, asking me to bring all the money with me,” she explained. I had no idea they were robbers till he pulled out cutlasses and inflicted pain on me.

“I work as a pharmacist.” All of the medications in my suitcase, as well as other valuables, were forcibly removed.”

When our correspondent visited the hospital, a doctor on duty, who asked not to be identified, said his inspection of the victim’s injuries revealed that the robbers wanted to kill her.

Meanwhile, Adewale Osifeso, the state Police Public Relations Officer, was unavailable for comment because he did not pick up his phone or react to a message sent to his mobile number at the time this report was written.
