The Detroit Lions are practically assured of the No. 3 seed in the NFC playoffs following their contentious loss in Dallas.

The Lions have a slim chance of climbing up to second place, but coach Dan Campbell says he will not rest his starters against Minnesota on Sunday afternoon.

“To me, it’s about winning this game,” he told reporters. “We’re going to use our entire arsenal to win this game.” That is the goal here.”

Detroit (11-5) must win, while the Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles must lose or tie in their respective games on Sunday for the Lions to claim the No. 2 spot. Later in the day, the Cowboys (4-12) visit the Commanders, while the Eagles (5-11) take on the Giants.

“Everybody’s going to be wanting to see it and that’s why you need to win, so that you’re going to be excited to watch the games and see what happens,” he said. “Look, we have to end strong. We need to go play good, solid, clean, competitive football against an opponent who will give us their best.”

The Lions are still reeling from Saturday night’s 20-19 setback to the Cowboys. With 23 seconds left, a Jared Goff touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown put them within a point. When Goff threw a 2-point conversion pass to tackle Taylor Decker, Detroit appeared to take the lead, but officials determined that Decker had not reported as eligible. During and after the game, the Lions angrily contested the call.

Detroit won the NFC North title a week earlier, 30-24, at Minnesota.

The Vikings (7-9) are still alive in the wild card chase. With a 33-10 loss to Green Bay on Sunday night, their postseason chances were effectively dashed.
