Jameson Williams of the Detroit Lions has missed both of the team’s practices this week due to an ankle injury and sickness, putting his status for Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings in doubt.

In the event that Williams is unable to play in Week 18, the Lions may rely more heavily on Donovan Peoples-Jones.

Peoples-Jones, acquired from the Cleveland Browns at the trade deadline, has made a quiet impact for the Lions. He has only three catches for 33 yards since making his debut in Week 11.

However, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has been impressed with Peoples-Jones’ integration into the offense. As a result, the veteran might play an important role as the Lions approach the postseason.

“Yeah, each week’s a little bit different, but certainly if we need to limit Jamo here this week, then DPJ has, over the course of the time that we acquired him, he’s gotten better each and every week,” he added. “We’re very happy with where he’s at in the offense and with his execution.” Antoine Green is the same way. If his number is called, he’ll rise to the occasion and put himself in a good position. If we have any physical issues, those guys are usually not present. If they’re out there, they’re ready to go.”
