Jameis Winston has always been a calm athlete who avoids conflict. Since joining the NFL in 2015, the quarterback has distinguished himself by respecting the rules, his teammates, and his opponents. That’s why, on one of the few times he’s broken the codes, his teammates rallied to his side.

The New Orleans Saints have already secured a thumping victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Week 18 of the 2023 season. With the score at 41-17 and his team on the opponent’s one-yard line, Saints head coach Dennis Allen called for the victory formation.

Everything was going as planned until that point: without receivers, the offensive line wrapped in backup quarterback Jameis Winston. Instead of kneeling, Winston passed the ball to running back Jamaal Williams, who raced to the end zone.

Both teams’ benches were shocked; Allen, Falcons head coach Arthur Smith, and the Atlanta players were incensed by the incident, while the Saints players rejoiced on the field–it was Williams’ first and only score of the season.
