The college football world erupted Wednesday afternoon when famous head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement from the sport. According to On3’s Jeremy Johnson, Crimson Tide safety Caleb Downs is anticipated to use the NCAA Transfer Portal in response to the news. ns, the nation’s greatest young safety, has joined the NCAA Transfer Portal. Downs, a former 5-star from Hoschton, Georgia, was strongly recruited by the Bulldogs throughout his high school years but ultimately chose to continue his football career under Nick Saban’s direction. However, with Saban no longer leading the Tide, Downs may be looking for a new team.

In 2022, Bullard recorded 46 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and two interceptions. He was also selected defensive MVP for the semi-final playoff game against Ohio State and the national championship game against TCU that year.

Bullard switched positions from STAR to backside safety for the 2023 season so that Tykee Smith could play STAR, and he continued to make an impact. Bullard had 55 tackles, one tackle for loss, and two interceptions in 13 games for the Bulldogs last season.
