Brian Callahan, the new coach of the Tennessee Titans, had to halt briefly during his opening remarks. After expressing his gratitude to the Cincinnati Bengals organization, the 39-year-old required an additional minute to gather his thoughts.
On Thursday, Callahan made his debut as the Titans’ head coach. He had served as the offensive coordinator for the Bengals for the preceding five seasons. Callahan was down in tears as he thanked Duke Tobin, director of player personnel, coach Zac Taylor, and owner Mike Brown.

Before pausing for a long time, Callahan stated, “I would like to thank the Cincinnati Bengals organization — Mike Brown, who is one of the greatest men that I’ve ever met.”
Additionally, he expressed gratitude to Katie Blackburn and Troy, the executive and vice presidents. Then, when he was speaking about Taylor, he became tearful once more.
“You can see how much these people mean to me,” Callahan remarked, trying not to cry. “I’ll manage to gather it.
“First and foremost, Zac Taylor. He’s an amazing football coach, a wonderful friend, and a mentor to many. I am very grateful for what you have done.”
Callahan had previously served as an offensive assistant with the Denver Broncos (2010–15) and as a quarterbacks coach with the Detroit Lions (2016–17) and Oakland Raiders (2018), but Cincinnati was the first team to give him a chance to lead an offense.
It was a wise hire for all parties involved. It’s obvious that Callahan will always be appreciative of that chance.
