Back in late November, the odds on the Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup were as high as 18 to 1.

After a dismal 5-12-1 start, Edmonton was at that point out of the Western Conference playoff picture.

The Oilers have had the best record in the NHL ever since.

Edmonton has won 14 straight games, a franchise high.

In NHL history, that is the longest winning run for a Canadian team.

Thanks largely to their second-best save percentage in the NHL, the Oilers have gone on an incredible run, finishing in the top five in both goals scored and goals allowed per game.

With 9-to-1 odds, Edmonton is currently the second favourite to win the Stanley Cup.

The only team with better odds to win it all is the Colorado Avalanche.

The Oilers will host the Chicago Blackhawks in their next game in an attempt to extend their winning streak to 15 games.

It should come as no surprise that Edmonton is one of the NHL’s biggest moneyline favourites at FanDuel right now.

This is the Thursday, January 25, 2024, morning coffee.

This season, the Oilers are one of the biggest favourites over the Blackhawks.

The Oilers have won at least 14 games in a row, making them the seventh team in NHL history to do it.

They will have the chance to make it to 15 wins in a row tonight in one of the most lopsided games of the season thus far.

Edmonton is 22-3-0, which is an NHL-best since November 24th.

The Oilers are the first NHL team ever.

In December, Skinner had a 6-2-0 record, a 2.26 goals against average, and a.915 save percentage.

This month, he has excelled even more.

In January, Skinner has an 8-0-0 record, a 1.37 goals against average, and a.951 save percentage.

In the moneyline for tonight’s game against the visiting Chicago Blackhawks, the Oilers are currently -480 favourites.

Edmonton is currently the fourth-biggest money line favourite in the NHL as of right now.

Until the puck drops, we’ll have to wait and see where that number finishes up.

The Oilers are -188 to win by two goals or more.

The Blackhawks, who are still without Connor Bedard, are overwhelming favourites to pull off the surprising victory (+360).

It won’t come as a surprise if Edmonton is able to increase its winning streak to 16 games with their upcoming home games against the Chicago Bulls and the Nashville Predators.

That would set up a fascinating road matchup on February 6th against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Vegas is now the eighth option to win the Stanley Cup at FanDuel at 14-to-1 odds.

Even though the Golden Knights are without a few important players, I’m curious to watch how the Oilers and Vegas play early next week.

For the time being, we’ll see how Edmonton does as it looks to beat the Blackhawks tonight and extend its winning run to 15 games.

The NFL Championship Sunday Countdown Is Underway

We are just over 72 hours away from kick-off for NFL Championship Sunday on TSN and CTV.

The big news on Wednesday was that Jim Harbaugh will take over as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, which has nothing to do with the games this weekend.

It has nothing to do with the games this weekend, but the big news on Wednesday was that Jim Harbaugh will take over as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

After going 4-1 with the FanDuel Best Bets for the NFL Divisional Round, I’m on the fence about posting one more in Friday’s column.
