Michigan, Jim Harbaugh's punishment from Big Ten isn't all that badJim Harbaugh caused media frenzy, altercations with coaches, viral moments with recruits, andeverything in between while he was Michigan’s head coach.After taking over as the Wolverines’ coach in late 2014 after Brady Hoke was fired, Harbaugh quickly caused a stir in Ann Arbor by berating coaches for breaking the rules and going beyond what the NCAA would permit through satellite camps throughout the nation.

In an attempt to win recruits over, he prepared cakes, went on sleepovers, and climbed trees. According to sources who spoke with ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Harbaugh took the head coaching position with the Los Angeles Chargers after leading his alma institution to its first national title since 1997, three Big Ten titles, and three trips to the College Football Playoffs.

This is a look back at some of his most iconic and viral moments since joining Michigan in 2014, as he is leaving the collegiate football scene.

Feb. 7, 2015: ESPN 300 running back Mike Weber, a top prospect out of Detroit Cass Tech, committed to Michigan State, according to Harbaugh. In the midst of the Wolverines’ 2014 season defeat against Maryland in the fourth quarter, Weber announced his departure from the club.

Although Weber eventually signed with Ohio State, Harbaugh battled to get him back in the class. Weber stated at the time that Stan Drayton, the coach of the Buckeye running backs, played a significant role in his commitment; however, the day after Weber signed his national letter of intent with Ohio State, Drayton left to assume the same position with the Chicago Bears.

Since then, he has publicly shown his adoration for the judge and the show while playing cards with her.

When speaking to reporters at the 2013 NFL combine, Harbaugh stated, “I’m a big fan of the ‘Judge Judy’ show.” Furthermore, you have no hope of winning the case when you lie in Judge Judy’s courtroom; your credibility is totally destroyed. I thus discovered that from her. It is really potent.”

March 14, 2015: Harbaugh really started to turn up the heat on the recruiting road in the 2016 class. The recruiting team worked extremely hard and creatively to bring in ESPN 300 defensive lineman Boss Tagaloa, a California native.

A “promposal” poster that Tagaloa used to ask someone to prom was one of the things Harbaugh recreated. With a banner that said, “UM will be sour without you, so let’s make it sweet,” Harbaugh posed for a photo. MICH?

March 14, 2015: In the 2016 class, Harbaugh really started to step up his recruiting efforts. The recruiting staff went above and above in their efforts to sign ESPN 300 defensive lineman and native Californian Boss Tagaloa.

Among the items Harbaugh replicated was a “promposal” poster that Tagaloa used to ask someone to prom. “UM will be sour without you, so let’s make it sweet,” read the sign that Harbaugh held up as he posed for pictures. MICH?

 

In order to circumvent the 50-mile rule that applies to certain institutions, Harbaugh extended an invitation to those coaches to speak as guests.

At the time, John Swofford, the commissioner of the ACC, declared that his conference would support a policy that forbade satellite camps around the nation.
