Steph Curry: Golden State Warriors have 'unbelievable opportunity' to reach NBA Finals again | NBA News | Sky SportsIf your team is the Charlotte Hornets and you are 10-33, you have probably come to the conclusion that you may not be able to make it to the postseason and that it might be best to give up and start over.

The Golden State Warriors, who have lost nine of their previous 13 games, are currently 19-23 and are frantically searching for a way to stay in the Western Conference playoff picture. It seems certain that the Warriors will trade.

An Eastern Conference executive told Heavy Sports, “No question.” “I believe they’ve spoken with almost every player in the league. I believe they would view it as a broad net that they are casting. They need other players to balance out Steph Curry, who is already on the team. They are searching everywhere, then. Depending on how you look at it, I would definitely describe it as becoming desperate.

The Hornets and Warriors might, however, agree on a reasonable, if not spectacular, trade that would send Hornets big man P.J. Washington to Golden State in a meeting of two desperate teams.

According to The Athletic, which mentions on its NBA Trade Board that Washington has secretly become available and is the Warriors’ “best fit,” that is the idea.

Washington would undoubtedly be receptive to an improvement in his circumstances, particularly with his summer restricted free agency contract award of $48 million over three years.

At the moment, Washington is shooting 43.4% from the field and 32.8% from three-point range, averaging 12.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. According to Sam Vecenie of The Athletic, that is less than his typical output:

It wouldn’t be shocking if they tried to move him off their books and if he was traded for adequate assets by a different team. Washington hasn’t had the best season since he’s had trouble making 3-pointers and has had less of a role since the team selected Brandon Miller and reintegrated Miles Bridges.
