Steelers coach Tomlin promises change is on way - UPI.comAfter finishing the regular season as the 7th seed in the AFC, the 10-7 Pittsburgh Steelers were defeated by the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round.

This season, their offensive was mired in difficulties, and the running game took the load. In terms of points, total yards, passing, and running, they were rated 25th, 28th, and 13th, respectively.

Pittsburgh is purportedly in the process of deciding whether to accept or reject the first-year option associated with their 2021 first-round selection.

The fifth-year option of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ running backs will be exercised.

In order to replace James Conner, who inked a contract with the Arizona Cardinals, the Steelers planned to select a running back in the 2021 NFL Draft. In the first round, they selected Najee Harris with their twenty-fourth pick.

Owner of Pittsburgh, Art Rooney II, says the team must make a “key decision” on his future:

Making those selections requires careful consideration and study, so in addition to all the other tasks we have to complete in the offseason, Rooney stated, “we’ll be working on that.” When the draft in May approaches, that will be a crucial choice.

This is his performance for the first three seasons.

Najee Harris earned his first Pro Bowl after an amazing rookie campaign in which he gained 1,200 yards on 307 attempts and seven touchdowns on the ground. In addition, he caught 74 passes on 94 targets for 467 yards and three receiving scores; his 381 touches from scrimmage resulted in 1,667 yards and 10 touchdowns. On 84% of offensive snaps, he was represented.

In his sophomore campaign, Najee Harris’ output decreased as a result of sharing reps with Jaylen Warren, an undrafted rookie. Harris gained 1,034 yards on 272 carries and seven touchdowns on the ground. For a total of 313 touches for 1,263 yards and 10 touchdowns from scrimmage, he also had 41 receptions on 53 targets for 229 yards and three receiving scores. On 66% of offensive snaps, he was represented.

In his third season, Najee Harris’ output declined once more. With 255 carries, Harris gained 1,035 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. For a total of 284 touches for 1,205 yards and eight touchdowns, he also had 29 receptions for 170 yards on 38 targets. He only had 53% of the snap counts.

Despite a decline in output, he made history as the first running back in Pittsburgh Steelers history to rush for 1,000 yards in three straight seasons.
