On Tuesday, January 9, managing partner Josh Harris made Adam Peters the Washington Commanders’ new general manager. As of right now, the search is on for the team’s next head coach. The front office and scouting section will also need to be reorganized. As a well-liked football executive, Peters takes over and is now in charge of rebuilding this team.
Since the beginning of January, Washington has been looking for a head coach, and they have identified eight potential candidates. The NFL has two head coaching positions available right now. The coaches who were eliminated from last weekend’s Conference Championship round can now be interviewed in-person by the Commanders and Seahawks. Bobby Slowik and OC Eric Bieniemy have already had in-person interviews with Washington. Thus, Washington is left without any outside candidates who are offensive coordinators. After interviewing with Washington for HC yesterday, Anthony Weaver, the assistant head coach for the Ravens’ offense and defense, has already begun interviewing for defensive coordinator roles.
Mike Macdonald is anticipated to ink a six-year contract after accepting the head coaching position with the Seattle Seahawks. The only applicants on Washington’s list who are known to have been interviewed are Eric Bieniemy, Dan Quinn, Anthony Weaver, and Aaron Glenn. Quinn appears to be the front-runner on that list, although Weaver and Bieniemy reportedly did well in their interviews.
