The latest mock draft that the Bears selected featured quarterback but not Caleb Williams. It was first broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago.

I’m going to change it up this time because I’ve mocked Caleb Williams to the Bears with the first overall pick on multiple occasions in recent memory. It seems doubtful that anyone but Williams will be the first off the board this year, given the pre-draft conversation thus far, but things happen every year. Recall that this time last year, we were discussing Jalen Carter as a possible first-round selection choice for the Bears.
The Bears have stated that they wish to get to know every candidate personally before making any draft decisions, and they still need to meet with individuals for their top-30 visits. When the Bears finally come together, there’s no reason to think Williams won’t wow them—but perhaps someone else will? These rough drafts are supposed to be entertaining, not to be taken literally—that much is supposition at this stage.
As always, the purpose of our mock draft is not to guess what the Bears will actually do when they return to the War Room for the upcoming offseason. That isn’t feasible. It’s also not intended to be a suggestion for what the Bears ought to do. We’re using our mock draft as a chance to learn more about some of the intriguing college players this year and how they might fit in Chicago.
Draft analyst Dane Brugler ranked Maye higher on his big board than Williams halfway through the college football season, and it’s a reasonable move. Maye can target wide receivers who are on a streak with his incredible deep ball. His willingness to toss contested balls to his receivers in an attempt to give them a 50/50 shot to catch the ball would fit in nicely with DJ Moore’s skill set. In addition to being incredibly precise and throwing with excellent timing, he can also improvise when things go wrong. Although Maye lacks Fields’ or Williams’ level of scrambling skill, he is still agile enough to pose a threat with his legs. essentially the entire bundle.
Maye completed 64.9% of his passes for 7,929 yards, 62 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions during his final two seasons at North Carolina. In addition, he gained 1,147 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns on 296 carries.
No. 9: Washington, D.C. – Wide Receiver – Rome Odunze
Odunze went unnoticed for much of the season because people don’t stay up late to watch the Pac-12, but he is a wide receiver with a legitimate chance to be selected in the top 10. Big, quick, dependable, and one of the best deep threats in the country, he is. There aren’t many wide receivers with 100 targets in 2023 with a resume like his: first-half totals of 1,639 yards, 74 first downs, 21 contested catches, and 75% of contested catches (1st),
