If the Dallas Cowboys adopt Trevon Diggs’ recommendation, they might not have to search far for Dan Quinn’s replacement. Diggs, a 25-year-old cornerback, recently expressed his preferences for the team’s next defensive coordinator.

Diggs posted on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account on Friday, stating, “Al Harris for DC.”

Although the Dallas Cowboys would be wise to replace Dan Quinn with an internal coach like Al Harris, their current defensive backs coach, this may not happen anytime soon due to the uncertainty surrounding head coach Mike McCarthy’s long-term future with the team.

Trevon Diggs and the Dallas Cowboys defense in 2023

The Dallas Cowboys finished seventh in the NFL in 2023 with a passing yardage of 3,481, giving up just 18.5 points per game.

Trevon Diggs suffered an ACL tear in his left knee during practice, ending his 2023 campaign. In the two regular-season games that he participated in, he recorded four total tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble.

Trevon Diggs led the NFL in interceptions prior to 2023 and was selected to the first team of the All-Pro squad in 2021. The former Alabama defensive back totaled 52 tackles and 11 interceptions that season, two of which were touchdowns.

Al Harris played a huge role in Trevon Diggs’ development

Al Harris spent 14 years as an NFL player, making two trips to the Pro Bowl while playing for the Green Bay Packers in 2007 and 2008. Following his retirement, Al Harris worked as an intern and a secondary/defensive assistant for the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs, respectively, until joining the Dallas Cowboys in 2020.

Over the years, he has monitored Trevon Diggs’ and DaRon Bland’s development. This season, DaRon Bland, under his tutelage, set a new mark with five pick-sixes in a single year.

Although it seems unlikely that Al Harris would replace Dan Quinn, clubs that might require one should at least take note of him thanks to Trevon Diggs’ recommendation.
