Atlanta Falcons fire Arthur Smith after 7-10 season - ESPNArthur Smith, a former head coach of the Falcons, was appointed by the Steelers on Tuesday as their new offensive coordinator. However, he might not be the only Atlantan moving to Pittsburgh in 2024.

The Steelers have identified Falcons wide receiver Mack Hollins as a player to keep an eye on when he becomes available to sign free agents.

Playing under Smith in 2023, the 30-year-old might benefit Pittsburgh’s youthful wide receiver room with his experience, which includes a Super Bowl LII triumph with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Although veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson II has filled that position for the past year, it appears certain that the team will let him go this summer in order to save $10 million against the cap, according to Spotrac.

According to Pro Football Focus, the Steelers are expected to be $15.66 million above the salary cap in 2024, so they will need to make a few moves to create room. Removing Robinson II would undoubtedly assist in that regard.

Therefore, it would be best to sign Hollins, who is only anticipated to receive a $1.4 million one-year contract. This season, the former fourth-round pick from 2017 only has 18 receptions for 251 yards. However, Robinson II’s 2023 stat line—34 receptions for 280 yards—was equally unspectacular.

Hollins is a valuable member of the special teams unit and a decent blocker. Above all, though, he won’t break the bank.

In the upcoming weeks and months, the Steelers will undoubtedly have to make some difficult choices. However, it will ease the team’s mind in 2024 if Smith can convince Hollins to join him in Pittsburgh.
