Steelers Coaches Roster | Pittsburgh Steelers - Steelers.comHead coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin, has been closely monitoring several of this year’s draft class while at the 2024 Senior Bowl.

With the burden on the Steelers to start winning in the playoffs once more, the next draft is very crucial.

This summer, the club appears to be lacking in some critical areas, and it appears that a player who could address one of those requirements has pleased the team even though he was unable to play in the Senior Bowl.

Former West Virginia center Zach Frazier is someone the Steelers “absolutely love,” according to a league source who spoke to Mike DeFabo of The Athletic.

Frazier might be a perfect match for the team after a successful four years in the Big 12, as they prepare to become a much more run-heavy squad under Arthur Smith. Center is one of the team’s main needs.

An Outstanding Individual at West Virginia

For the Mountaineers, Frazier has been showcasing his skills for a time now.

Over the next four years, he hasn’t looked back since he shot to prominence right away.

As a sophomore, the exceptional center was selected for the All-Big 12 Second Team.

He contributed to West Virginia’s group of running backs averaging 171.5 rushing yards per game in 2022, which earned him a spot on the All-Big 12 First Team.

The running offense became even more potent in the previous season. The Mountaineers averaged 5.3 yards per rush while gaining an astounding 228.9 yards per game on the ground. West Virginia’s 9-4 record was aided by that potent run game.

Frazier was selected to the All-Big 12 First Team once more.

Although he is still recovering from a fractured fibula he sustained during the team’s season-ending victory over Baylor, it doesn’t appear that the injury will have a significant negative impact on his draft prospects.

He is a candidate to go off the board as the second center in the 2024 draft, and the Steelers will probably need to use a round two selection to get him.
