The Associated Press announced Garrett as the winner of the DPOY award during the NFL Honors show, highlighting his exceptional performances in the 2023 campaign. Watt, a two-time contender and past champion, was unsuccessful in securing a rematch.

With 19 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, 68 tackles, and a defensive touchdown, Watt led the league in 2023, demonstrating his defensive brilliance. Watt added to his remarkable total of 36 QB hits by leading the league in sacks for the third time in his seven-year career.

Myles Garrett displayed impressive numbers of his own, recording 42 tackles, 30 quarterback hits, 17 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks. Voters were drawn to Garrett’s diverse contributions, which ultimately helped him win.

In addition to his previous honors as the 2023 Pro Football Writers of America Defensive Player of the Year, Garrett also has the 2023 DPOY award. Garrett is the only active NFL player with 10 or more sacks in each of the last three seasons because to his steady consistency.
