Following the 3-2 loss to Newcastle United, Sky Sports commentator Izzy Christiansen acknowledged that he was “quite worried” about Nottingham Forest’s Premier League standing.
After losing the opportunity to pull away from the relegation zone, the hosts were left feeling disappointed. Morgan Gibbs-White gave Forest the chance to take the lead, but Bruno Guimaraes was able to put them behind one goal.
In the 26th minute, Anthony Elanga equalized following a through pass from Gibbs-White. Another set-piece from Newcastle exposed the Reds’ weakness as Fabian Schar scored after a free-kick was not cleared.
However, Forest was able to reply once more. On the cusp of halftime, Callum Hudson-Odoi scored again, deflecting the ball and sending it into the top corner.
Newcastle took the lead again through Guimaraes as soon as Anthony Taylor and VAR waved away penalties. Forest is still two points above the relegation zone and has yet to secure their first league victory of 2024.
Christiansen has emphasized that, considering that teams in the drop zone gained ground this past weekend, Forest’s situation is “precarious.” She told Sky Sports, “Nuno mentioned there that they created chances, and that’s number one.”
