Along with a number of other teams in the league, the Baltimore Ravens are occupying the days preceding free agency by substituting departing coaches and completing open positions on the coaching staff. Mike Macdonald, the former defensive coordinator, became the head coach of Seattle, Dennard Wilson, the defensive backs coach, took over as the Titans’ defensive coordinator, and Anthony Weaver, the former assistant head coach, is now the defensive coordinator in Miami.

Chris Hewitt Gives Breakdown of DeShon Elliott
Chris Hewitt was promoted to assistant head coach by the Ravens, according to a Monday announcement from John Harbaugh. In addition, Hewitt coordinates the passing game and instructs the secondary. Hewitt ascended the coaching ladder on the defensive end of the ball after joining Baltimore in 2012 as a special teams coach.
It says volumes that Ravens assistant coaches have a history of getting elevated to head coaching positions. Before joining the Jets and Texans, respectively, Rex Ryan and David Culley were assistant head coaches. Weaver, Wilson, and Macdonald were all lost by the Ravens in a single cycle, so Hewitt will need to adjust fast to keep Baltimore competitive.
