During Senior Bowl week, there was discussion about Kansas City potentially assigning Sneed the franchise tag in the upcoming offseason. This move is estimated to cost approximately $19 million. In an article titled “L’Jarius Sneed expected to land massive payday after Super Bowl exploits as NFL teams aim to poach Chiefs CB away from Kansas City,” published on February 13, 2024, Pauline provided further details. It is anticipated that Sneed will sign a long-term deal worth somewhat less than the tag value, averaging roughly $18.5 million a year, should he decide to go unsigned.

What other team could Sneed sign if the Chiefs are unable to sign him in the offseason? Paulined said, “Keep an eye on the Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders, and Atlanta Falcons.”

“It would take a lot of work on the part of the Cowboys to create enough cap space to sign Sneed. However, as we approach the new league year, the Falcons now have more than $25 million in cap room.

Whether this is the smartest use of Dallas’ resources for a franchise already pinched for cap space is a matter of considerable doubt. According to Spotrac, Sneed’s market value is a $65.3 million, four-year contract.

Dallas needs to make the necessary corrections in the upcoming months as it is currently more than $20 million over the 2024 cap. The return of Trevon Diggs, the rise of DaRon Bland, and the potential to re-sign Stephon Gilmore at a far lower cost than what Sneed is expected to demand are all advantages for the Cowboys.
