It has been informed to Giovanni Reyna that his transfer to Nottingham Forest is “not going to work”.

The American, who apparently drew interest from Marseille, Sevilla, and two other unidentified clubs, joined Forest in January while on loan from German Bundesliga team American. Reyna has only made two Reds appearances thus far, both coming off the bench against Newcastle United and Bournemouth.

Taylor Twellman, a former US international, has also given his assessment of Reyna’s transfer to the City Ground. The 21-year-old midfielder is unlikely to be well-suited to Forest’s Premier League relegation struggle, in his opinion.

He said on the “State of the Union” podcast with Alexi Lalas, “I am concerned.” “I’m worried about a few different things. One is to switch representation. Naturally, your contacts alter when you switch representations. Who is standing in for him now? Not truly public, that. Who is representing him? That would be interesting to know.

“If you’re really going to Dortmund for Forest, that means that six weeks or four months prior, everyone was telling me that Sevilla was where he was going to end up.” I understand that they are battling for relegation, but Giovanni Reyna is better in La Liga.

Taylor Twellman Giovanni Reyna is not suited for an English Premier League relegation fight. That won’t work, regardless of who is attempting to convince me of it or who you are.

“Gio is in the most crucial stage of his player identification period—the process of trying to figure out who he is and who he wants to be—and I’m worried that, after what occurred at the World Cup, he will now be pursuing this and trying to find himself the entire way around. He is still young enough to have an incredible career, but as a player, these are the difficult days when you have to figure out who you are and what you want to do. I’m not sure if he will receive that response.
