David Moyes confirms 'sad' news about West Ham starDespite the outrage of West Ham United supporters following their 6-0 loss to Arsenal last weekend, the manager of the squad denies any notion that his team has not been excellent value for money this season.
After a managerial apprenticeship at Preston, Scotsman Moyes spent 11 years at ‘people’s club’ Everton, winning Manager of the Year three times, reaching an FA Cup final and once qualifying for the Champions League. He left in 2013 to fill Alex Ferguson’s huge shoes at Manchester United, but was sacked after just 10 months. Following a similarly brief spell in charge of Spanish side Real Sociedad, he was hired by Sunderland when Sam Allardyce took the England job.

Paul Merson said he was “sad” and “frustrated” when Arsenal, his previous team, defeated West Ham in a fashion that tied the record for most away league wins.

At the London Stadium, Mikel Arteta’s team defeated the opposition 6-0 thanks to five different goal scorers. They were sent out by William Saliba, and then Bukayo Saka scored his first goal from the penalty spot. Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Magalhaes scored quickly after, making the score 4-0 before the halftime siren blew.

“Defending wise, if that happened at U10s football, you’d be going, ‘Seriously?’ – not getting tight, showing them inside on their proper foot, it is poor,” Merson stated to Sky Sports. “I find it regrettable that Arsenal forced West Ham to give up. That’s the one thing you want to avoid doing as a gamer.

“There are other ways to lose football games, but that method was appalling. I was sympathetic to David Moyes. That isn’t his group. Today, they disappointed him.”

The way the Hammers gave up their fifth was one instance Merson was very upset about. Emerson pursues the right-back after being tricked by Ben White’s false run, leaving Saka alone to face Nayef Aguerd. The seventh player for Arsenal defeated.
