“The Lakers and James were unwilling to consider a potential blockbuster, despite the Warriors’ eagerness to provide a package deal to Los Angeles. James is still performing at an All-NBA level at the age of 39, which has the Warriors excited about his potential to prolong the team’s waning dynasty, according to ESPN. Warriors player Steph Curry responded, “No, never surprised,” when asked about this after the team’s loss to the LA Clippers on Wednesday night. It always surprises me when things like that leak out because I assume every team is calling people to let them know that if the fan base or media group knew about it, it would normalize the discussions that take place in the front office, particularly during trade deadlines when you’re trying to figure out who’s available and who isn’t.
“Obviously, a guy like Bron, you would probably call just to see,” Curry continued. Although I’m not sure how in-depth the talks were, this morning’s small surprise was definitely pleasant.”
James and the Lakers did not appear to be amenable to a trade, therefore the Warriors were unable to complete the transaction.

The Warriors were unable to finalize the deal because James and the Lakers did not seem receptive to a trade.
