After defeating the San Francisco 49ers 25–22 in Super Bowl LVIII, the Kansas City Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in five years, establishing themselves as an NFL dynasty. With Jordan Love starting at quarterback, the Green Bay Packers are attempting to establish themselves as a dynastic power, but with Aaron Rodgers, they could only win one.
This season, Love beat Patrick Mahomes, setting the precedent. Compared to his first professional start against the Chiefs two years prior, Love performed a lot better. Is Love’s development in the face of the Chiefs a precursor to things to come in Green Bay?
Love found herself suddenly in the public eye in November 2021 when Rodgers became inactive due to COVID-19. In Kansas City, they took against the Chiefs, the current AFC Champions. Love wasn’t a bad player, but he wasn’t very good either. With just 190 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, he completed 19 of 34 throws. The Packers lost 13–7 with just one point.
After two years, Love took on Kansas City once more. The Chiefs’ defence was far superior this year than it has been in the past. In terms of overall defence, Kansas City came in second, fourth, and second overall in terms of pass defence and scoring defence. It goes without saying that the KC defence this season was among the best in the league.
