Martinez, who accepted responsibility for the goal that allowed Fulham to tie the game after Ollie Watkins’ double had placed Villa ahead by two goals, disclosed that he and coach Javi Garcia have made a point of having Martinez handle one-on-one situations during practice.

“I’ve never had such a high queue, and I’m trying to get better every time I play.”

A mix-up at the back between Martinez and Clement Lenglet led to Muniz’s goal.

“I shouldn’t have come out; Clem had it clear, but he stopped a little bit when he saw me coming,” the goalie remarked.

“I put pressure on the team; the goal is mine.”

But I made the vow to never give up again when the squad was under duress.

“With a few crosses and saves, I tried to help, but I put pressure on the team.”
