After making it to the playoffs in 2022, the New York Giants had a terrible 2023 season. In an effort to improve for the following season, the team should aim to recruit several free players this offseason.
Giants general manager Joe Schoen signed quarterback Daniel Jones to a four-year contract after the team made the playoffs in 2022. However, based on the team’s performance in 2023, it appears that Schoen’s decision was not favorably received. In six games with the Giants last season, Jones threw for two touchdowns and six picks. He also added a torn ACL and a neck ailment to the long list of injuries he has had in his career.

The Giants were also beset by other flaws, such as some doubts in the secondary or a dearth of skill on the offensive line save for left tackle Andrew Thomas. While Schoen may not be able to solve every issue facing the Giants this offseason, a few players stand out as excellent targets in free agency leading up to the NFC Draft.

The positions of safety, cornerback, and quarterback stand out as being in dire need. Particularly in free agency, there are targets at those spots that the Giants may find financially advantageous. Now let’s discuss them.

QB Jacoby Brissett

The Giants are going to have to do something at the quarterback position, whether it is signing a veteran or drafting a rookie. Jacoby Brissett would fit in that mold of a veteran. With New York having the No. 6 pick in the upcoming draft, it is unlikely that the top quarterbacks will be available for the Giants without trading up.

Jabrill Peppers,

The Giants let Jabrill Peppers walk after the 2021 season, and it made sense. New York had Xavier McKinney under contract coming off of a big season, and Jabrill Peppers was coming off of a serious injury.

L’Jarius Sneed, CB

L’Jarius Sneed should get a good deal this offseason, and it would make sense for the Kansas City Chiefs to retain him, but the Giants should be all over him if he hits the open market.
