The Baltimore Banner was informed by Baltimore County Police last week that Zay Flowers, a wide receiver with the Baltimore Ravens, was under investigation for a possible domestic assault. Although he hadn’t received a criminal charge, numerous stories indicated that he was undoubtedly being investigated.

The day after the Ravens defeated the Houston Texans in the divisional round, on January 21, police informed the Banner that they had received information about an alleged assault in the Owings Mills, Maryland, area. However, a spokesman informed the Banner that further information would not be disclosed at this time as the case was still under investigation.

The Acton, Massachusetts police department stated that it was aware of the charges, and the Banner claims that the agency is also involved in the inquiry. Acton is around twenty-five miles away from Boston College, where Zay Flowers played collegiate football.

Since former running back Ray Rice was accused of beating his then-fiancee in 2014, the Baltimore Ravens have maintained a very strong zero-tolerance policy for players accused of domestic abuse. Flowers played in the AFC title game against the Kansas City Chiefs six days after the alleged assault, though it is unknown at this time if the Ravens were informed of the incident before the game.

The Ravens released a statement on Thursday afternoon (via Fox Baltimore): “We are aware of the report regarding Zay Flowers. We take these matters seriously and will have no further comment at this time.”

Baltimore County police announced on Tuesday that they had ended their investigation into domestic abuse, which they said implicated wide receiver Zay Flowers of the Ravens, without filing any charges.

According to recently released records, a lady told Acton, Massachusetts police that she had witnessed a domestic dispute involving an NFL player, in which the player’s brother had drawn a gun. Records show that woman refused to identify him and claimed to be afraid, but police searched social media to find out who she was “associated with.”

According to the police report, “she stated that she was physically assaulted which left her with multiple bruises.” However, when Baltimore County police contacted her later in the month, she claimed there were no new problems and withheld any information about the initial allegation.

According to what the police wrote, they tried to get in touch with Zay Flowers’ lawyer by contacting one. “Would not avail himself at this time in reference to this report,” the lawyer informed them. On February 16, it was decided to halt the probe.
